I had Carol as my titration nurse. I found her to be incredibly helpful in deciding what I should do. She was very responsive and quick to answer any questions or issues I had throughout the process. I spoke to her on the phone once to discuss what happens once I have found the correct medication, and I found her very easy to talk to. Overall I felt very supported throughout the process.

I cannot recommend Carol enough. She was my nurse prescriber during my titration process, and I found her to be incredibly responsive and guided me through the process step by step. She was always on hand to help during the four week period. I could not wished for a better level of treatment.

Carol was extremely helpful in preparing and assisting me through titration of meds for ADHD. She called me at the beginning of treatment and as well as explaining the process and giving guidance, she also offered great advice. Carol responded quickly with all issues during titration and I felt confident and well supported.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in my late thirties after being misdiagnosed with depression and anxiety in my teens and twenties. I was very nervous about trying new medication. Although the usual titration period (time when you test the medication and adjust the dose) is around one month, Carol was very patient and helpful in giving me longer to find the correct level and the best times to take the medication. I mainly used the online message system, which for me was convenient due to work constraints, but we also spoke by phone. I had some specific issues related to hormonal reactions and questions about varying the dose level. Carol was knowledgeable, clear and also kind when I raised these concerns. This compares favorably with my previous experiences with other medical professionals.

I feel I have been so lucky to have Carol Shue as my nurse. She has always made sure I fully understand things regarding my medication. She has always replied promptly to any messages I have sent and even phoned me to explain things a little clearer when needed. I couldn't be more grateful to have been in her care. Thank you.

Profile

I am a registered nurse prescriber. I started my journey as a mental health nurse by completing the recognised nursing course in the UK. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2011, I have worked in acute inpatient and community settings. I have helped pioneered the start of an NHS Adult ADHD service in 2011 and developed the service together with a Consultant Psychiatrist and provided a nurse led service for adults. Since 2011, I have participated in training conferences to help train other clinicians who were planning to start an adult ADHD service in their locality or those who have just started working in an adult ADHD service. I have given talks about the nurse led Adult ADHD service that I have helped pioneered in conferences/training sessions.

I was voted Clinician of The Year in 2017 in the NHS Trust I was working with, and this reflects my dedication and commitment to continue to develop my nursing practice and deliver the best nursing intervention to those in need.
